6. Can you describe the Databeacon product families to me?

Databeacon is a set of complementary software components that enable organizations to design, publish and disseminate data over the Internet, providing self-serve explorable reports to operational managers. The published are delivered over the Web via highly compressed multi-dimensional Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) files, called cubes, which are sent to the operational manager’s PC along with one of Databeacon’s viewers. Geared to the needs of specific user communities, these viewers allow various degrees of ad hoc data analysis, creation of self-defined Web reports, as well as the ability to collaborate with others.

CORE Technology

The Databeacon software that provides developers with the means to extract data, design and construct OLAP cubes for smart client deployments is called Databeacon CORE (Client OLAP Reporting Environment). Databeacon CORE is a unique and powerful differentiator from other Mid-market reporting and analysis offerings that rely on third-party cube-building technologies that don’t support smart client computing. Databeacon CORE technology is included in all Databeacon products.

Databeacon Open Client software

Databeacon has been a champion of smart client technology since 1995, marketing the Databeacon Open Client product family to allow customers to deploy Java-based, open systems Web Reporting and Data Analysis solutions. These solutions allow anyone with a Java-enabled browser to use the Databeacon Insight viewer, a Java applet, to explore Web reporting data and create self-serve reports.

Databeacon Smart Client software

In 2004, Databeacon launched the Databeacon Smart Client family of products to leverage Microsoft’s significant adoption of the smart client paradigm via their .Net Framework. Databeacon also renamed its Java-based Databeacon Collaboration Edition and Databeacon PageEnhancer API respectively as Databeacon Open Client Standard and Databeacon Open Client Professional.

Databeacon Analyst

Databeacon Analyst is Databeacon’s entry-level product, priced and designed so individuals can create self-serve explorable reports for personal consumption, and share static versions of those reports via email. For marketing purposes, the product is a seeding and branding strategy with a direct and obvious upgrade path to our Databeacon Smart Client Standard and Databeacon Smart Client Professional products.

Databeacon Analyst includes the Databeacon Insight viewer for analyst/I.T.-level inquiries, as well as the Client OLAP Reporting Environment (CORE) to design and build cubes from data contained in .txt files. All CORE cubes and reports created with Databeacon Analyst are compatible with/can be used by enterprise upgrade products – Databeacon Smart Client Standard and Databeacon Smart Client Professional.
